Teacher Career Establishment Grant Awards

About the Awards

Each recipient will receive a single nonrenewable award intended to offset costs related to starting a new teaching career in a state-designated classroom subject shortage area in Iowa.

Pro-rated amounts may be awarded for:

• New full-time teachers who are assigned to eligible subject shortage areas on a less-than-full-time basis (as determined by the employer).
• New teachers who teach under a part-time contract in an eligible subject shortage area (as determined by the employer).

The Iowa Student Loan Teacher Career Establishment Grant program may be modified or discontinued at any time without notice and at the sole discretion of Iowa Student Loan.

Award Notification

Grants will be awarded on a rolling basis as applications are received.

Applicants will be notified if they receive an award or if they are ineligible approximately two weeks after a complete application is received.

Receiving the Award

Awards will be sent directly to grant recipients approximately two to four weeks after notification.

Tax Implications

The Iowa Student Loan Teacher Career Establishment Grant may have tax implications. Recipients of the grant will be issued all applicable IRS tax forms. Recipients should consult a tax professional to understand how the award may affect taxes.
