Education Related Deferment

You may qualify for this deferment if you have at least one outstanding Federal Stafford, Supplemental Loans for Students (SLS), PLUS or Consolidation loan while you:

• Complete your graduate fellowship or receive rehabilitation training (for Stafford, SLS, PLUS or Consolidation loans).
• Complete your internship or residency (if at least one outstanding Stafford, SLS, PLUS or Consolidation loan was made before July 1, 1993).
• Teach in designated teacher shortage areas (if at least one outstanding Stafford, SLS, PLUS or Consolidation loan was made before July 1, 1993).
• Have a student dependent in a graduate fellowship program (if at least one outstanding Stafford, SLS, PLUS or Consolidation loan was made before July 1, 1993).
