Thank you for your interest in the Iowa Student Loan Nursing Education Loan Forgiveness Program. The online application for the 2008-2009 academic year will be available until September 30. A flier summarizing this program is available in PDF format.

PLEASE READ THESE THREE IMPORTANT NOTICES CAREFULLY:

1. Individuals applying under the Nurse Educator option must be enrolled in MSN or PhD program leading to (or continuing) employment as Nurse Educators. The program must also be through an eligible Iowa college or university.
2. Individuals applying under the Registered Nurse Long-Term Care Facilities must be enrolled in ADN, BSN, MSN or PhD programs leading to (or continuing) employment as Registered Nurses in Long-Term Care Facilities in Iowa AND complete such programs before December 31, 2009. The program must also be through an eligible Iowa college or university.
3. Iowa Student Loan’s ability to offer the Nursing Education Loan Forgiveness Program to new applicants in 2008-2009 depends upon approval, of a pending request of the program, by the U.S. Secretary of Education. Approval must also be made by the Iowa attorney general. Such approvals are required for future programs based on new federal and state regulations. It is our hope to continue a loan forgiveness program for nurses to help advance Iowa's stated nursing and nurse educator needs. All applicants who apply will be notified of changes to the program if and when they are known.
