Thank you for your interest in the Iowa Student Loan Teacher Education Loan Forgiveness Program. The online application for the 2008-2009 academic year will be available until September 30. A flier summarizing this program is available in PDF format.

PLEASE READ THESE TWO IMPORTANT NOTICES CAREFULLY:

1. Only individuals enrolled in education programs leading to degrees and/or endorsements in eligible Iowa designated subject shortage areas that lead to (or continue) employment as fulltime elementary or secondary teachers in Iowa AND completing such programs before December 31, 2009 will be considered for awards.
2. Iowa Student Loan’s ability to offer the Teacher Education Loan Forgiveness Program to new applicants in 2008-2009 depends upon approval, of a pending request of the program, by the U.S. Secretary of Education. Approval must also be made by the Iowa attorney general. Such approvals are required for future programs based on new federal and state regulations. It is our hope to continue a loan forgiveness program for teachers to help advance Iowa's stated educational needs. All applicants who apply will be notified of changes to the program if and when they are known.
