Current Iowa Teacher Subject Shortage Areas
The following is a list of qualifying subject shortage areas as designated by the Iowa Department of Education.
Note: In order to meet the subject-area qualification, the following criteria must both be met: teachers must have a 5-12 endorsement and be assigned to teach in the shortage-content area in those grade levels. Therefore, a teacher with a K-8 math endorsement, teaching only sixth-grade math in a middle school setting, would not qualify; but a teacher with a 5-12 math endorsement, teaching only sixth-grade math, would qualify.
